In NYC enjoying a few days of relaxation and enjoying the drastic change of scenery. Has been a while since the last post and the past two weeks were filled with heat, wildlife, and the best kind of people you can meet. I went through a tough stretch with leaving my cell-phone at a shelter during a lunch break and staggered into Port Clinton, PA tired, and pissed off. I was not only greeted with a cold soda, but eventually found out that my phone had been picked up by another hiker and would be sent to Carly. Carly will be sending it to my Uncle in New York so hopefully I will receive it tomorrow. So a special thanks to Carly and the kind hiker who found it and took the time to mail it. That is only a shred of the "trail-magic" we've encountered these past two weeks. Cold sodas in random coolers, water at much needed locations, slack-packed by strangers, and a few rides here and there truly make the culture of trail quite unique. The end of PA was hot with little water and extremely rocky thus we were quite excited to be leaving the state and getting to Jersey. However, in Jersey we were met with trash, and what seemed like a fresh swamp every hour or so. We pressed on onwards and cruised right on into New York and our vacation in the city. New Jersey had the most wildlife I've encountered. Namely a porcupine, almost stepping a big ol rattler, and a bear chilling in a yard on the side of a highway. Below are some pictures of the end of PA, NJ, and beginning of NY. As you can see the scenery don't change much, nor does my use of good grammar.
Until the next time,
