It's been quite a while. Hopefully I will do better than four blog posts for 1000 miles during the southern half. But I am sitting in Richmond VA ending a nice two week vacation (parasite induced) after making it about 40-60 miles into VA. With my sickness over I am ready to finish this trail off and return to reality. Enjoy all the pictures from NY, CT, ME, VT, NH, and ME. New England is truly a unique and beautiful region of the United States. Some special thank-yous to all the people that have helped me thus far. Thanks to my Uncle Malcolm and Aunt Mary for picking us up to enjoy some days in NYC and dropping us back off to the trail. Thanks to my sister Kasey and her roommate Rachel for their hospitality and enduring my stench in their apartment for a few days. Thanks to Dave, Jeff, Betsy, Julia, Will and my cousin Mike for making my time in New York a blast. Thanks to Jack and Fresh for walking with my sorry ass from WV to VT. Thanks to my parents for some slack packing in NH and some good eatin in Hanover. Thanks to Nikki for some slack packing in NH right when I started to traverse the Whites. Thanks again to my parents for picking me up in ME and getting me back to WV. Good to see all my fellow Hokies and their family in Pittsburgh too bad the we could not pull out a win. Thanks to Chase for walking with me into VA and sorry our walk was cut short. Finally thanks to all the wonderful people I have met along the way who have picked me up when i have fallen, taken me into their homes when hostels were full, and to all the interesting folks who have made my walk thus far an unforgettable experienced.

A little late but in the words of johnny cash
Hey porter! Hey porter!
Please open up the door.
When they stop the train I'm gonna get off first
Cause I can't wait no more.
Tell that engineer I said thanks alot,
and I didn't mind the fare.
I'm gonna set my feet on Southern soil
and breathe that Southern air.
Sorry to hear about the two-week hiatus due to a parasite. The photos are stunning! So glad that the experience has been unforgettable. Dr. S
